TerraMedia Featured on CSS Based

The new TerraMedia website design has been featured on CSS Based, an online gallery of website's that have been designed using XHTML and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) using modern design techniques and practices.

"CSS Based is a project providing web designers a gallery of well designed CSS-based websites from all around the world."

Websites can be submitted to CSS Based by anyone, but to be approved, they must feature a unique, tableless design.

Tables are an outdated method of developing websites that make layouts easy to design compared to older techniques. Nowadays though, there are faster, easier and cleaner ways of designing layouts that provide much more functionality then the older tabled methods.

The TerraMedia website uses numerous DIV's (a block element that can contain pretty much any other piece of code that you like) to contain each portion of the website. These DIV's along with all of the other elements used are controlled entirely by CSS, this means that the appearance of the website can easily be controlled seperately from the content.

The reason behind seperating the content from the design is that it not only makes it easier to modify later on, but it can also speed up website loading times, ensure easier cross browser compatibility (in other words, it makes it easier to make sure the site will look virtually the same in all browsers) and it can make your website easier for search engines to index. This means that your website could potentially rank higher in search results. What all this means in regular terms is that the website is more accessible to users, more user friendly, and more likely to be found.

We design all of our websites with these concepts in mind, so you can be sure that your website will be written to the highest standards of quality with accessibility, usability and searchability in mind.
