How does search engine marketing work?

Search engine marketing, or SEM is a great way to gain exposure to thousands of people quickly without relying on your site to rank well in search engines.

Search engine optimisation is the process of optimising your website to rank well in search engine results. You don't pay for clicks or views, you just pay for the optimisation and analysis processes. Comparatively, when you undertake a search engine marketing campaign, you can pay for analysis along with clicks or views.

In simple terms, search engine optimisation is a long term strategy to bring customers to your website. Search engine marketing provides immediate customers looking to purchase your products or services.

What's involved in marketing your website on search engines?
