Show Hidden Files in OS X 10.9 Mavericks

In OS X 10.9 Apple have changed things around again when it comes to showing hidden files. The easiest way I have come across is via the Terminal.

Simply open the Terminal app from the Utilities folder inside Applications, or by searching for “Terminal” using Spotlight in your menu bar.

Once open, enter the following two commands:

defaults write AppleShowAllFiles -boolean true
killall Finder

This will restart Finder with hidden files now visible. If you want to hide them all again, you can use the following commands:

defaults delete AppleShowAllFiles
killall Finder

Just remember when hidden files are visible that there might be things there that could affect the stability of your operating system if deleted or edited by mistake, so be careful.
